A Weekend in Toronto
I went to Toronto for the weekend to photograph a surprise proposal. I haven’t been back since I was a kid so I was excited to have a couple of days to check out Toronto for the weekend.
There was so much to do, see, and eat! The walkability of this city, especially to a lot of these places, was really nice. We cannot wait to go back and to see all the other spots we didn’t make it to.
Here’s a round-up of all the activities we did on our weekend trip:
Jump to:
Harbourfront ↘
Fashion District ↘
Downtown ↘
Chinatown ↘
Fort York-Liberty ↘
King West ↘
Things to Do in the Harbourfront Area
If you’re looking for all of the tourist attractions, you will want to start in this area. Here you will find museums, the hockey hall of fame, sporting events, Ripley’s Aquarium, the CN tower for a spectacular view of Toronto, and of course — the harbor.
This area is about a mile away from the Union Station with plenty of bikes available to rent if you prefer to bike around the area.
Things to Do in the Fashion District Area
Street art & public art murals are impressive and vibrant in the heart to Queen West neighborhood. We stumbled into the Graffiti Alley and were blow away with the talent and scale of Toronto’s art scene. There was plenty to do in the area from shopping to bars, cafe, and restaurants.
Things to Do in the Downtown Area
The Graffiti Alley puts you walking distance to the epic shopping mall, Eaton Centre, the Toronto sign at Nathan Philips Square, and the Yonge-Dundas Square.
A public square the the southeast corner of Yonge Street & Dundas in Downtown Toronto. There’s lots of shopping, public use & events, live entertainment, & more.
📍100 Queen St W • Toronto, ON
The sign is located in Nathan Philips Square. It is currently vinyl wrapped in artwork titled Rekindle, designed by Toronto-based artist Joseph Sagaj in recognition of Unesco’s International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022 to 2032).

Things to Do in the Kensington-Chintown Area
Between Queen West and the Downtown Area, you will find Chinatown. Their Chinatown is legendary and filled with unique eateries, culture, and art galleries.
Things to Do in the Fort York-Liberty Village Area
The Bentway, near our Airbnb, was one of the coolest use of public space and public art installation under the stretch of the Expressway.
📍250 Fort York Blvd • Toronto, ON
“Preserved as a 43-acre archeological park, Fort York is where British soldiers, First Nations warriors and Upper Canadian militiamen stood together against the United States and its mission to capture Toronto in the War of 1812. The bloody Battle of York that ensued was a dark and dramatic moment in the history of the city.”

We walked this entire area through to the York Site National Historic Site and enjoyed hanging out and shooting hoops at the Stackt Market.

Things to Do in the King West Area
If you’re looking for a lively nightlife vibe, King West Area is where it’s at. It is the home to swanky restaurants, clubs, cocktail lounges, and speakeasies. Everyone seems hip, fashion-forward, and ready to have a good time. We had a lot of great dinners in this area.
